Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.- En este 6 de abril conmemoramos el X Aniversario del Día Internacional del Deporte para el Desarrollo y la Paz que fue instituido por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en 2013 con el apoyo del Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI) bajo la presidencia de Jacques Rogge.
La fecha del 6 de abril fue seleccionada ya que en 1896 fueron iniciados en Atenas, Grecia los Primeros Juegos Olímpicos de la Era Moderna los que fueron inaugurados por el Rey Jorge I de Grecia y en la presidencia del COI el también griego Demetrius Vikelas.
La World Judo Federation se unio a esta celebracion desde su inicio lo que ha transmitido a sus afiliados de manera que hemos recibido reportes de Chile, Uruguay, Venezuela, Inglaterra, Republica Dominicana y Brasil, entre otros.
Como símbolo de esta efemérides deportiva y siguiendo a Peace and Sport utilizamos la Tarjeta Blanca (#WhiteCard) que indica la pureza en el deporte y que es contrario a la utilización de tarjetas amarillas y rojas que indican penalidades en diferentes disciplinas.
Esta Tarjeta Blanca esta en el ámbito del maestro Jigoro Kano con la pureza del uniforme blanco como indumentaria de practica que el impuso en 1882 cuando inicio la enseñanza del deporte del judo.
Las Naciones Unidas (ONU) confieren desde hace tiempo el poder y la universalidad del deporte al utilizarlo como herramienta para unir a individuos y grupos mediante el apoyo a los esfuerzos para el desarrollo, la participación en eventos tanto a nivel mundial como de base, y el desarrollo de sus propias campañas e iniciativas relacionadas con el deporte.
Tanto la las Naciones Unidas como el Comité Olímpico Internacional y la organización Peace and Sport confieren una significación especial al Día Internacional del Deporte para el Desarrollo y la Paz y es que el pasado año 2022 la actividad del 6 de abril alcanzo a 171 millones de personas en 113 países.
La entidad Peace and Spot esta presidida por Joel Bouzou, fundador, organizacion que tiene como patrón al Príncipe Alberto II de Mónaco, miembro del Comité Olímpico Internacional quienes desarrollan una amplia y fructífera actividad a favor de la Paz y el Deporte a nivel mundial.
El tema del Día Internacional del Deporte para el Desarrollo y la Paz 2023 es «Marcar tantos por las personas y el planeta«, que como en años anteriores, propicia que las actividades se centren en el impacto y la influencia del deporte en el desarrollo sostenible y la paz.
Y es que desde el empoderamiento de las mujeres y las niñas, los jóvenes, las personas con discapacidad y otros grupos marginados hasta la promoción de los objetivos de salud, sostenibilidad y educación, el deporte ofrece un enorme potencial para impulsar y promover la paz y los derechos humanos como objetivos esenciales de los proponentes de esta resolución en la Asamblea General de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas.
«Nuestro lema de Judo para Todos se adapta ampliamente a las motivaciones del Día Internacional del Deporte para el Desarrollo y la Paz que sigue una de las múltiples enseñanzas del Maestro Jigoro Kano de Amistad y Prosperidad Mutua como un legado a la humanidad de esta gran filantropo que fue miembro del Comité Olímpico Internacional», indico el presidente de la World Judo Federation el señor Jaime Casanova Martinez.
